How would it be detected? It seems like the password detection and decryption is happening at the hardware level, and they take steps to have it show up as nothing more than a standard drive. I’m not an expert on this stuff though.

Steam does a lot of good stuff, and they remembered that the third world exists. It’s annoying looking at prices on other stores and seeing a game cost 10 - 20% of my country’s average monthly income.
As to your actual question - because most criticism of steam I see here appears to be rooted in wishful thinking rather than any actual logical consideration.

Doubt. Source on that? The average stats I see say it’s more or less a 50-50 split between those who dislike AI and those who embrace / are neutral about it.
