The bloody lights everyone is obsessed with nowadays caused me numerous nights of shit sleep. Some devices designed by companies who clearly think too much of themselves decided that they would keep their LEDs on despite the computer shutting down.

If anyone else is experiencing this issue, look for ErP in your BIOS/EFI and then turn it on/enable it.

Caveat: you won’t be able to charge your USB devices using your PC USB ports while the PC is shutdown if you change this setting.

Jesus Christ can you at least be accurate?

Speaking of accuracy, your comment seems to identify the wrong issue. Navigating the install menus in a non-Arch linux distro is pretty much analogous to Windows. The biggest difference is that Linux distros don’t have 3-4 pages where they sneakily try to include privacy-breaching clauses during the installation.

The real issue is starting the installation in the first place. Windows is easy, because hardware manufacturer’s have en masse bent over to willingly present themselves to Microsoft, Linux doesn’t have this advantage and users must figure out how to get around the 7,000 different Secure Boot UEFI configurations before they can even start the installation process.

Absolute stupidity and a waste of taxpayers’ money spending so much time on this nonsense.

These incompetent morons are pretty much guaranteeing that they will lose the next election. In the middle of a housing and inflation crisis this is what these fuckheads decided was important.

I loathe the opposition, but it’s hard to defend the sheer incompetence the Labor Party has displayed their entire term.

  • That’s fair. A couple of programs I use are more compatible with Gnome so I had an incentive to get it working. My desktop is pretty much identical to KDE/Windows with a start menu (ArcMenu extension), a taskbar (Dash to Panel extension) and I’ve removed all keyboard shortcuts to the Overview eyesore and have prevented it from showing up at launch (No overview at start-up extension).

I used to read Australian news every day. Now I just don’t bother. This government just wastes their time on complete and utter nonsense like this while we’re in the middle of a housing crisis that they’re doing their absolute best to exacerbate.

I feel like I became dumber just reading this article.

  • This is a fair assessment. I actually like politics, but I have still blocked numerous political communities because the users spam variations of the exact same 2 articles over, and over, and over, and over again.

    It’s either going to be:

    1. Trump be stoopid
    2. Israel be bad

The first few times were interesting, now it’s just effing annoying. Blocking these communities has definitely improved my Lemmy experience.

Edit: it’s both extremely telling and extremely concerning how much my rational take on consent is triggering all these pathetic men.

Your initial comment was rational, it was well-thought out and you made a fair point while ending the comment on a positive note. Left alone, I would have upvoted your well-considered opinion and moved on.

However, your follow up responses and your edit were unprovoked ad hominem sexist attacks where you assume everyone who disagrees is a mansplaining penis-wielder whose words have less value than your own. While having your views challenged can be confronting, responding in the manner you are only detracts from your argument.
