I considered paying for it but the cost vs benefit just wasnt there.

To prevent a few ads playing vs blocking those ads anyway for free.

    yeah nah.

The number of videos I watch on YouTube amounts to maybe 3 hours a week.

      At best.

      On average maybe 20-30 minutes.

I’m not willing to pay $13 $9 a month for that.

What? 13? a month?, wtf is Google thinking 🤔, I’m really surprised of the price, I have been blocking add for years and it’s been long since researched for the price, damn.

1 dollar a month would be a great deal, we are getting to the point that the private data they are gathering from us is not enough to pay for the services.

The problem with YouTube Premium is that it’s not differentiated from NewPipe or Vanced.

You don’t get a better algorithm. You don’t get higher quality. You don’t get faster speeds.

You literally get a service that is provided by third party apps.

Until they start baking in ads with their content, YouTube Premium is essentially a paid service for people who don’t run adblock or don’t want to use a third party tool.

YouTube is probably 90% of our streaming consumption.

Combine that with the music streaming, background play, video downloading, and ability to access it on hotel smart TVs.

Plus it supports the creators I like.

Really makes YTP a no-brainer for us.

You can get background play via using FireFox, video downloading with extensions or other programs, and play anything on hotel TVs with a video cable from a laptop or any other device. All without paying the great beast.

I’m not going to implement multiple workarounds on our android and apple phones and plug a laptop into a tv every time I want to watch YouTube on it. YTP is well worth my few dollars a month.
