That one creeped me tf out as a kid. Also, seems like a lot of effort for an advanced civilization to go to just to eat. Surely, there’s better and more accessible food closer to home.
But not nearly as tasty!
The real answer is that if they have the tech to cross interstellar distances, they can probably just lab grow human meat or even full grown humans.
Perhaps, though, the fear is part of the experience?
