That was true when the pandemic started but facial recognition models have advanced to account for that. Facial recognition has plenty of different features to key off of, such as ear position, jaw structure, nose shape, eyebrows, forehead, etc…
Face paint is usually an entirely different defense. It basically blocks the algorithm from identifying a face at all so it can’t start on the more detailed steps of picking out specific features.
Or you could, y’know, wear one of those handy face coverings that we all already had to go out and buy in bulk 5 years ago…
