I’ll never understand how, as a parent, you can give all of your love to a child, raise them to ha e an inner voice of moral authority, and then be petty and vindictive when they are adults. If my child grew to be a petty, self involved adult (>28) I would wonder where in the world I could have been more present and more connected. Possibly not my fault, but if have to check to make sure.

    Has this been anyone’s experience?

Most boomer grandparents I know are “chill” (distant) because they weren’t interested in they’re own kids and they sure af not interested in being grandparents

My parents used to say “I can’t wait until you have one just like you. Then you’ll understand how difficult you are to live with.”

    So I got sterilized.

And they were surprised for some reason.

It’s a joke that the awful things that the parents put the grandparents through while the parents were children are now being visited on the parents by the grand kids.

The grandparents ‘own’ is their children, the kids parents.

I.E. the kids parents will continue the trend of whatever the grandparents instilled upon them while they were being raised.
