You don’t have to make holidays into whatever that is. My holidays are relaxing opportunity to meet friends who aren’t busy with work, that’s basically it. I discovered you don’t actually need to Buy Product ™ to have a holiday.
I love to celebrate good food with the friends and family I care deeply about, and I love seeing them happy. There’s people who arent worth it, like the OP no-contact can be the best choice and there’s swaths of my family I don’t talk to, but throwing the baby out with the bathwater here just makes life less full.
Take the next step and remove yourself from holiday traditions. I only observe the solstice/equinox dates.
Why? It’s fun to celebrate stuff.
