  • Who said anything about a hill to die on. You’re being fucking annoying and a scold. And, I’m just being honest with how that makes me feel about you.

How is this at all a point of contention? Like how old are you?

Homophobia is very funny. It’s very silly to be afraid of gay people or afraid of being perceived as gay. That’s a silly way to behave. Acting like it, in jest, is also funny. Acting like a middle schooler is very funny

And who said anything about rationality and logic? That shit blows. Imo people are far too rational and far too logical these days.

I want to feel things, and I want to laugh. And, I don’t care to tiptoe around these arbitrary lines about etiquette. Because that’s what it is. It’s etiquette and social posturing, and it does absolutely nothing at all to actually help improve the lives of real LGBTQ people

You know what does help them? Working together. Collaborating. The free exchange of ideas. Sharing a laugh or an experience. Bitching about life and dating your shitty fucking job together.

I can’t believe this type of thinking even still exists. Haven’t we run out the scenario long enough with this shit where we can acknowledge that shutting down discussions based on arbitrary and shifting rules around improprieties and language is a net negative.

It is to the benefit of cynical and hateful people who operate in this world to be such a fucking tightass

  • Relax, nerd. We also discussed literature and film and culture and politics and history. There were actual academics and professionals around diving deep on niche topics. But, there was also a relaxed atmosphere where people could talk shit and be mean to each other if it was funny. That’s the online space I miss and want. It was riddled with the meanest gays you’ll ever encounter. They were hilarious

If you’re telling me this place is just another hugbox for shut-ins, you’re probably right that I shouldn’t be here. I’ll take option number 2 and just log off completely

  • I’ve used reddit for 17 years. As of this week, all my accounts have been banned, I can no longer create a new one without using an email tied to my identity, and (as of today) I can’t access the site on my phone at all without being logged in.

It was fun while it lasted. It would be nice if this website could serve as a pivot for people like me, enough to create an atmosphere conducive to the kinds of interactions I used to enjoy online. I don’t have high hopes, but we’ll see.

    Maybe I’ll just go outside
